Just a few brave souls made it out Tuesday 4/10/18 for first Blue Tuesday of the year. Big shout out to team member who painted the Dan Henrys (road marks) that give turn by turn directions plus warn of sudden stops and hazards in the road.
I would like to point out that there are various pot holes on Tuesdays route (it is Indiana after all), which made me realize just how important is is to communicate while on the road.
The first rider in a group should call out the road hazards - "road kill", "water", "debris", and of course "hole". Then other riders should repeat that message, as the 5th rider in a pack may not hear the initial call out. But that 5th rider could hear the 4th rider call it out. Even in a group of 2 riders, I repeat the message so the other rider knows I heard them.
Some May rides to look forward to, I should be at most:
Sun 4/29/18 - CIBA Mann Rd Meander. If you ever wanted to abandon our Tuesday night route and explore the side roads, now's your chance.
Sat 5/5/18 - CIBA Eastern Brown County Meander. Relaxed ride thru hill country. Plan on eating lunch on the route and dinner afterwards to make a day of it.
Sun 5/13/18 - CIBA Crankin' Round Cordry/Sweetwater. 50ish miles but hilly for those of you not participating in Mt. Mitchell this year.
Mon 5/14/18 - Mt. Mitchell and Marion. Start in Spartanburg South Carolina and end in Mt Mitchell North Carolina over 100 miles and 10,000' elevation, or 72 and 5,000 if stop at base of Mt @ Marion. See event registration for details.
Sat 5/19/18 - Sun 5/20/18 - TOSRV. Started in 1962, yearly Tour of Ohio Scioto River Valley. Just south of Columbus OH. Ride 105 miles south & 3500 ft elevation 1 day, stay the night, then ride back next day.
Sat 5/26/17 (Memorial Weekend) - Horsey Hundred. Rolling hills of horse country in Georgetown/Lexington KY. Best roads I ride every year. Up to Century ride with 5000' elevation Saturday, Friday and Sunday optional rides too.
