Helmet (required)
Water bottles – water and electrolytes – one bottle each
Tires filled with air (or bring a pump) – get in habit of airing up your tires before each ride
Your “Cycling Kit:”
- Jersey
- A good pair of cycling shorts
- Socks
- Cycling-specific shoes for toe clips or clipless pedals
- Cycling gloves
- Sweat band or head sweat
- Sunglasses/eye protection
Sunscreen
Headlight and tail light (especially for early/late season rides when sunset occurs earlier)
Cyclometer to track distance and speed
ID/consider getting a Road ID
A small pack to carry things needed to change a flat tire, including:
- Spare tube
- Tire levers
- CO2 cartridge (or small pump)
